The Police Anti-kidnapping squad and other tactical teams in Ondo State have rescued eight of the 25 members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Igan, Akure, who were abducted on Friday in the state capital.

VerseNews reports that the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ondo State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who confirmed their rescue said the victims were rescued by police operatives.

However, the police is not resting on its hoarse to release the remaining 17 of the captives.

Recall earlier, this news website reported that the abduction was carried out on Friday afternoon in the state capital.

“The Police Anti-kidnapping squad and other tactical teams have been deployed to the area to rescue the victims and arrest all involved in the crime,” Odunlami-Omisanya said.

Meanwhile, a family member of one of the abductees who doesn’t want her identity mentioned said that the worshipers were kidnapped at Elegbeka after Ifon in the Ose council area while traveling for a burial ceremony.

“The vehicle conveying the kidnapped members who are choir members was seen abandoned by the roadside,” the woman said.
