• The remains of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo have arrived in Abia State ahead of his funeral, with family, friends, and several celebrities gathering to pay their last respects.

The remains of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo have arrived in Abia State ahead of his wake-keep and funeral ceremonies, drawing an emotional gathering of family members, friends, colleagues, and fans.

The actor’s body was received at his father’s compound in Arochukwu, where mourners came together to celebrate his life and legacy. Videos circulating online captured touching moments as attendees paid their final respects to the beloved actor.

Several notable figures from the entertainment industry attended the wake-keep held on June 17, including Ini Edo, IK Ogbonna, Yomi Casual, Venita Akpofure, Nons Miraj, Mike Godson, and other close associates.

The funeral service and reception are scheduled to take place on June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, Abia State. He will later be laid to rest at his family residence in Arochukwu.

During the farewell gathering, tributes poured in from friends and colleagues who reflected on Ekubo’s impact on Nollywood and the lives he touched throughout his career.

Actress Ini Edo, while sharing a video from the burial preparations, described the late actor as a man of wisdom, depth, and substance, promising that he would be given a grand and memorable farewell.

“We will send you off in style and in glory because you weren’t an ordinary guy,” she wrote, adding that his legacy would remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
