Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party leader, Peter Obi, has been spotted directing traffic during a road gridlock in Anambra State.

In a video circulating on social media, Obi was seen standing on the road, gesturing to motorists and assisting in easing congestion as vehicles struggled to move through the area.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users praising the former governor’s hands-on approach, while others described the act as a political strategy ahead of future elections.

This is not the first time Obi has been seen engaging in such public acts. In July, he was also spotted serving food to attendees at an event in Imo State, an action that similarly generated debate across social media platforms.

Reacting to the criticisms at the time, Obi explained that he served food because many of the less-privileged attendees specifically requested that he do so personally. He said the act was part of the “Jubilee of Hope,” an initiative aimed at encouraging wealthy Nigerians to step down from their “high places” and serve the poor with humility.

According to Obi, the initiative is designed to promote empathy and compassion, noting that many prominent Nigerians participated quietly without seeking public attention.

He stressed that serving others is a normal part of his life and not a political campaign tactic, adding that he remained longer at the event only because attendees asked him to serve them personally.

Obi further stated that building a better Nigeria requires genuine concern for the hungry and forgotten, urging Nigerians to make acts of service a shared culture rather than isolated gestures.

The latest incident has continued to fuel public conversation about whether such actions reflect Obi’s leadership style or are calculated political moves.
