US President Donald Trump publicly praised Grammy-nominated rapper Nicki Minaj during a luncheon held at the White House Rose Garden on Monday, describing the music star as “so hot” and “respected by everybody.”

Speaking at the event, Trump singled out the 43-year-old rapper, calling her a close friend and applauding both her talent and character.

“We also have a woman that is so respected and so hot and so great and such a great friend of, I don’t say conservative, I say of common sense,” Trump said before briefly shifting his remarks to Democratic Socialists and communism.

Returning to Minaj, the US president continued his praise, saying:

“She’s a fantastic person, and she’s a woman that’s respected by everybody and she’s got real talent, Nicki Minaj. Nicki, stand up, please. Such a great person and respected by everybody.”

Following the event, Minaj shared moments from her White House visit with her millions of followers on social media using the hashtag #WhiteHouseBarbie.

The rapper posted a video from the Rose Garden while wearing a Versace outfit, captioning it:

“#WhiteHouseBarbie #VersaceTingz.”

She also shared photographs of herself posing beside a portrait of President Trump inside the White House, as well as another image showing the pair together behind the President’s desk in the Oval Office.

The appearance and Trump’s remarks quickly drew attention online, with clips and photos from the event circulating widely across social media platforms.
