- Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has approved the appointment of CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment comes barely three months after Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid assumed the role following the exit of his predecessor, Benjamin Hundeyin.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Placid, who described Iniedu as a highly experienced officer with a strong background in public communication, intelligence management, operational policing, administration, and institutional accountability.
A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo.
According to the statement, he has undergone several professional trainings in key areas, including investigative interviewing, crime scene management, intelligence analysis, strategic communication, and human rights-based policing.
Before his appointment as the Force spokesperson, Iniedu served as the Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and spearheaded initiatives aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
“He coordinated public complaint management and championed initiatives aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement noted.
The new police spokesman also previously served as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, among several operational and administrative assignments across the country.
Throughout his career, Iniedu has occupied a number of strategic positions within the Force, including Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, and Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters.
He also served as Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, Abuja, and later as Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he supervised the coordination and dissemination of crime and security information nationwide.

The Police leadership expressed confidence in Iniedu’s ability to head the Force Public Relations Department, citing his extensive experience and professional track record.
According to the statement, the Inspector-General believes the new spokesperson will strengthen the Force’s strategic communication efforts and deepen public engagement as part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving policing and public confidence in the institution.
His appointment marks another leadership change within the Force Public Relations Department, coming just months after DCP Anthony Placid was named FPRO on March 8, 2026.
Observers are expected to closely watch Iniedu’s tenure as he assumes responsibility for managing the public image and communication strategy of the Nigeria Police Force at a time when issues of security, accountability, and public trust remain central to national discourse.
