INEC Opens Candidate Upload Process as APC Denies ‘Fake’ Winners’ List
The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the release of access codes for political parties to upload their nominated candidates for the 2027 general election.
- The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the release of access codes for political parties to upload their nominated candidates for the 2027 general election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has shifted the date for releasing access codes that will enable political parties upload the names of their nominated candidates for the 2027 general election.
The access codes, initially scheduled for release on Friday, June 26, are now expected to be made available on Monday, according to sources within the commission and political parties.
The delay, sources said, is aimed at ensuring a smooth and seamless uploading process on the INEC portal.
An official familiar with the process disclosed that political parties had already received the necessary nomination forms and were only awaiting the release of the access codes to begin uploading completed documents.
“The political parties have been given the forms that would be filled, but the access code on where it would be uploaded has not been released until Monday,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has already presented Certificates of Return to its nominated candidates and distributed INEC nomination forms to them.
The party, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, also ratified the outcomes of its primaries for presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and state assembly candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Candidates were reportedly directed to return their completed forms within 72 hours to allow the party commence the uploading process immediately after INEC releases the access codes.
In a related development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a purported list circulating online claiming to contain the names of successful candidates from its recent primaries.
In a public notice signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, and shared on the APC’s official X account, the ruling party described the reports as false and unauthorised.
“The public is, therefore, advised to disregard any publication or report purporting to announce the outcome of the primaries, as such information is false and unauthorised,” the statement read.
The APC clarified that successful aspirants would be officially informed through recognised party channels before being issued their Certificates of Return.
The latest developments come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election, with the nomination process entering a critical stage.
