- A 300-level University of Ibadan law student and seven other individuals have reportedly been abducted while returning from a religious conference in Imo State, sparking concern among members of the university community.

A 300-level law student of the University of Ibadan (UI), identified as Tomisin, and seven other individuals have reportedly been abducted while returning from a fellowship conference.
The incident was confirmed by the University of Ibadan Students’ Union Government (SUG) in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Temidayo Adeboye.
According to the union, Tomisin travelled to the Scripture Union National Conference held at the Camp of Faith, Okigwe, Imo State, alongside the National General Director of the Scripture Union Student Fellowship, Engr. Uwem Cosmos, and several other participants.
Tomisin serves as the National Secretary of the Scripture Union Student Fellowship, Nigeria, and is also the Vice President of the Scripture Union, University of Ibadan Chapter.
The SUG clarified reports circulating online, stating that contrary to claims that eight University of Ibadan students were missing, Tomisin is the only UI student currently unaccounted for.
According to the statement, communication with Tomisin was lost while she was returning from the conference, and concerns were raised after she failed to appear for her scheduled faculty examinations on Monday and Tuesday.
The union disclosed that it has initiated engagements with relevant religious bodies and security agencies to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and support efforts aimed at securing the safe return of those involved.
Reports indicate that another University of Ibadan student from the Department of Music, who also attended the conference, returned safely, while the vehicle conveying the General Director and other participants remains unaccounted for.

At the time of filing this report, Tomisin, the National General Director of the Scripture Union Student Fellowship, and seven other participants remain unaccounted for, while security agencies continue efforts to determine their whereabouts.
