Arafat Day will be on Saturday, June 15, followed by Eid Al-Adha, also known as Eid-El-Kabir, on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
The moon sighting signals the beginning of Dhu Al Hijjah, during which the Hajj pilgrimage and Eid Al-Adha occur.
Eid Al-Adha, celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah, commemorates Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah, who then provided an animal to sacrifice instead.
This festival symbolizes faith and submission to Allah’s will. Muslims celebrate by slaughtering an animal, typically a sheep, goat, or cow, and sharing the meat with family, friends, and those in need.
