According to police authorities, investigators recovered a note believed to have been written by the deceased at the scene. The contents of the note are among the materials being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, described the incident as deeply troubling and assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway.
He stated that detectives are working to establish all the facts surrounding the case and determine the precise circumstances that led to the student’s death.
The police commissioner also used the opportunity to draw attention to the growing need for stronger emotional support systems and mentorship for young people.
According to him, parents and guardians have a critical role to play in monitoring the emotional well-being of their children and maintaining open lines of communication with them.
He urged families to pay closer attention to behavioural changes, emotional struggles, and social relationships that could affect the mental and emotional health of young people.
CP Orutugu further called on schools, religious organisations, community leaders, and civil society groups to intensify efforts aimed at mentoring youths and promoting positive values.
He noted that guidance programmes and support networks remain important tools for helping young people navigate personal challenges and make informed life decisions.

As part of efforts to ensure a comprehensive investigation, the police chief directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka.
The SCID has been tasked with conducting a detailed and discreet investigation into the matter.
Police authorities have assured the public that every aspect of the case will be carefully examined and that findings from the investigation will be communicated when appropriate.
The incident has renewed conversations around youth welfare, emotional support, and the importance of creating safe environments where young people can seek help during difficult periods in their lives.
