The Federal Government has opened applications for Nigerians who want to access laptops, smartphones, tablets and other digital devices through a consumer credit scheme known as the C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme.

C.L.I.C.K.D. means Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Devices. The programme is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, CREDICORP, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

Unlike a cash grant, the programme is designed to help eligible Nigerians get digital devices through structured credit, meaning beneficiaries may pay gradually instead of paying the full cost upfront.

What is the FG C.L.I.C.K.D. loan?

The C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme is a device financing initiative created to make digital tools more affordable for Nigerians who need them for learning, work, business, freelancing, software development, content creation and other productive activities.

According to CREDICORP, the programme covers devices such as:

  • Laptops
  • Smartphones
  • Tablets
  • Connectivity devices
  • Digital learning equipment

The first phase is linked to digital talent development programmes, especially the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent, 3MTT, Programme.

  • Email address
  • Phone number

These details are needed to identify the applicant and allow CREDICORP or its partners to contact them about the application.

2. State and local government of residence

Applicants must select their state of residence and local government area.

This helps determine where the applicant is applying from and may also help with phased rollout, distribution and verification.

3. Employment or current status

Applicants are required to choose what best describes them. The options on the application portal include:

  • Employed salary earner
  • Freelancer or self-employed person
  • Business owner
  • Student
  • Job seeker
  • NYSC member

This section helps the programme understand the applicant’s income or activity status.

4. Monthly income information

The portal asks applicants to provide their monthly income, although this field is marked optional.

The income ranges include:

  • Below ₦100,000
  • ₦100,000 to ₦250,000
  • ₦250,000 to ₦500,000
  • ₦500,000 to ₦1,000,000
  • Above ₦1,000,000

Since this is a consumer credit scheme, income details may help lenders assess repayment capacity.

5. Digital talent programme status

Applicants must indicate whether they are currently part of any digital talent programme.

The listed options include:

  • 3MTT
  • Andela Learning Community
  • Learn2Earn
  • ALX
  • HNG Internship

The first national pilot is connected to the 3MTT ecosystem, so applicants already participating in digital skills programmes may have stronger relevance for the current phase.

Is the FG loan for phones and laptops free?

No. The programme should not be treated as a free phone or free laptop giveaway.

It is a consumer credit scheme, which means successful applicants may receive devices through a repayment arrangement. CREDICORP says the programme is meant to make digital devices easier to access by spreading payment over time.

As of now, the official portal has not clearly published the interest rate, repayment period or down-payment requirement for all applicants.
