The spokesman for Rabiu Kwankwaso, Ladipo Johnson, has revealed that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, is unhappy over the leadership crisis currently rocking the OK Movement.

Johnson made the disclosure during an interview on Arise Television, where he admitted that disagreements had emerged within the political movement but described the situation as a distraction rather than a major threat to its objectives.

According to him, the internal dispute has diverted attention from efforts to strengthen the Movement’s structures across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He explained that the disagreement stemmed from differences between some members and the leadership of the Movement, warning that actions capable of creating divisions among supporters of the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso alliance could weaken the coalition’s chances.

Johnson urged stakeholders to avoid unilateral actions that could generate bad blood among supporters working towards a common political goal.

“Yes, we have, may I call it a distraction at the moment. It is not such, in my own humble opinion, that would lead you to take unilateral actions that could possibly scuttle or bring bad blood within the support base of the person you purportedly want to become the president of the country,” he said.

He also disclosed that Peter Obi had already been briefed on the situation and was displeased with the ongoing crisis.

“I saw the presidential candidate last night along with the DG. He’s not happy about the whole situation,” Johnson added.

The development comes amid growing political realignments and coalition talks ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the OK Movement seen as one of the platforms supporting a possible Obi-Kwankwaso alliance.
