- Inspire Live will connect pupils to interactive online lessons with free data access, Education Minister Tunji Alausa says, as the government tackles shortages of subject teachers.

Education Minister, Dr Tunji Alausa, says the Federal Government’s Inspire Live programme will help schools without teachers in particular subjects connect their pupils to qualified instructors online.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, November 3, Alausa said the initiative provides live, interactive lessons for primary and secondary school learners.
He explained that schools could follow a central timetable to connect to lessons in subjects for which they lacked teachers.
Using Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State as an example, the minister said a school without an English Language teacher could join a scheduled online class and participate remotely.
According to Alausa, learners can also access recorded lessons to revisit topics or catch up on missed classes.
He said the government had worked with the Nigerian Communications Commission to provide zero-rated access to the platform, describing the arrangement as free data for accessing lessons.
The minister also highlighted Ignite, a separate digital platform that supports teachers with lesson preparation, curriculum materials and professional development.
The latest remarks concern an existing education programme. The Federal Ministry of Education previously announced its nationwide rollout in November 2025, with expansion planned across Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3.
That earlier announcement directed education authorities to coordinate participation and ensure designated schools had basic ICT equipment and internet connectivity.
The current Inspire Live registration guidance asks schools and parents to review participation requirements, available subjects and the timetable before enrolling.
For school registration, the platform states that principals should submit their school’s name and identity number, complete enrolment and await approval.
Its advertised features include live classes, opportunities to ask teachers questions, recorded replays, homework support and practice quizzes. These resources are intended to help learners receive instruction and review lessons beyond their immediate classroom.
