Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has issued a ban on illegal mining activities in the state and ordered law enforcement officials to take strict action against those who violate this ban.

VerseNews gathered that Illegal mining in Zamfara has been linked to the fueling of banditry and other criminal activities over the years.

The governor emphasized the need to put an end to this destructive activity and implement measures to protect the safety and well-being of the state’s residents.

Security personnel have been instructed to take decisive action, including shooting on sight, against anyone involved in illegal mining.

The directive aims to ensure the safety and security of the people of Zamfara, deter potential wrongdoers, and allow the state government to have control over its resources while curbing activities that threaten lives and property.

Governor Lawal recognized that illegal mining has played a significant role in the prevalence of banditry in Zamfara State and stressed the importance of swift, decisive action to address this issue and restore peace and security to the communities.

In related news, bandits attacked the Sabon Gida village in Bungudu local government area of Zamfara State, kidnapping several students of Federal University Gusau.

Only six of the kidnapped victims have been rescued so far by troops of Operation Hadarin Daji.
