Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, in reaction to a now deleted social media content on Napoli’s TikTok account, has taken down all pictures and videos of the club on his Instagram account.
VerseSports reports that this comes after the club on Tuesday posted a video mocking the player where he missed a penalty kick.
It would be recalled, Napoli on Sunday played a goalless draw with Bologna. The current Italian Serie A title holder would have earned three points but unfortunately they ended up with a draw.
Osimhen who has scored three goals after six appearances in the opening weeks of the 2023/24 season was pivotal in Napoli’s triumph last season helping the club clinched their first title in 33, years after the great, Diego Maradona scoring 31 goals.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old has threatened a legal action against the club over the TikTok incident
“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted,” Calenda said on Twitter, now called X, late on Tuesday evening.
“(It is) A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.
“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
According to the Italian media, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is currently under investigation by authorities in Rome for allegedly falsely inflating the value of the transfer with four players sold to Lille as part of the deal.
Napoli are seventh in Serie A, seven points behind league leaders Inter Milan after winning just two of their opening five domestic matches
