BREAKING: Gunmen Kidnap Army Major-General In IMO State

Gunmen kidnapped a retired Major-General identified as Maj Gen RC Duru (rtd) in Imo State, Nigeria’s South-East.

VerseNews reports that the abduction occurred in the Orji General area of Owerri North Local Government Area.

The Major-General was driving his black Mercedes Benz ML jeep when he was ambushed by the gunmen.

The kidnappers, reportedly four individuals in a Toyota Sienna, also took his vehicle.

Efforts are underway to locate the kidnappers and secure the release of the retired General.

Security in the South-East region has deteriorated, with frequent attacks and incidents.

The Nigerian government has accused the pro-Biafra group, IPOB, of being responsible for the attacks, but the group denies involvement.
