The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2027 general elections, with several prominent politicians missing from the commission’s official register.

Among those absent from the final list are former President Goodluck Jonathan, whom the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed to have nominated as its presidential candidate.

Also excluded are Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North), former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel (Ogun East), former Gombe State Governor Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central), and Senator Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South).

The development comes despite earlier assurances by Senate President Godswill Akpabio that the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership was addressing grievances from aspirants who lost party tickets during the primaries.

Although the APC later reinstated six serving senators after reviewing petitions submitted to its Primary Election Appeal Committee, several influential politicians were still left out of the final list submitted to INEC.

In Delta State, Ned Nwoko’s name was absent from the candidates’ list displayed by INEC, confirming his defeat in the APC primary as former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa emerged as the party’s senatorial candidate.

Former Gombe State Governor Danjuma Goje also failed to secure the APC ticket, losing out to retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohammed Ahmed.

In Bauchi State, Senator Shehu Buba and House of Representatives member Mansur Soro were also absent from the final list. Buba had defected from the APC to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), where he secured the party’s governorship ticket, while Soro had earlier announced he would not seek re-election.

The APC’s review process, which affected nine states, restored the candidacies of six serving senators, including Sunday Karimi, Emmanuel Udende, Titus Zam, Shuaibu Isa Lau, Adeniyi Adegbonmire and Olajide Ipinsagba.

One of the biggest upsets during the review saw former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam lose his earlier victory after the party reinstated incumbent Senator Emmanuel Udende.

The publication of the final list officially ends months of political uncertainty ahead of the 2027 general elections.
