BBNaija 2019 winner Mercy Eke expressed concern on social media after the Central Bank of Nigeria revoked Heritage Bank’s license, affecting her deposit of over N100 million.
She highlighted the bank’s liquidation plan offers only N5 million initially, raising issues about accessing the full amount of her funds.
BBNaija 2019 winner Mercy Eke has recently drawn significant attention online after revealing she has over N100 million in her Heritage Bank account.
Her disclosure comes in response to news that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revoked Heritage Bank’s operating license, leading to its liquidation by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
This action was taken due to the bank’s poor financial performance, which posed a risk to financial stability.
On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mercy Eke shared her distress about the situation. She mentioned that Heritage Bank, now defunct, is only offering her N5 million out of her total balance.
An X user, @blessing_dudu, expressed concern by asking, “Omg Lambo hope you don’t have an account with them 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺.”
Mercy Eke responded, “I do… and have above 100m with them.”
Another user, @okkymoney, explained, “Queen mercyeke CBN said they will attend to people with 5M or lower first before they attend to people with multiple millions but it may take time.”
To which Mercy Eke replied, “That’s the problem, how can they pay 5m from someone’s millions?”
@love_ibanga said; “What is your account manager saying? This is serious o😩.”
Mercy Eke said; “She lured me into fixing my money, knowing fully well there’s been issues with the bank … I don’t have words for her, I blame myself .”
@adekanmbi_seun tweeted; “Why did you open an account with them in the first place. Opay, kuda, palmpay and co are the same.”
Mercy Eke reacted; “That was the bank that sponsored Bbn during my set, for them to pay our money we were advised to open an account with them… stupid me went ahead and funded the account … don’t worry I’m full of regrets right now.”
She added; “I really don’t no how to react about this … I have been hoping for the best .. thinking there’s a way out…. #heritagebank.”
“May God help me💔.”
