JUST IN: Lucky Aiyedatiwa Survives Impeachment Plot, Sworn In As Ondo Governor
Aiyedatiwa’s path to governorship included surviving an impeachment plot and opposition.
The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was sworn in as the governor following the death of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
VerseNews reports that the swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure, administered by Chief Judge Justice Olusegun Odusola.
Aiyedatiwa’s path to governorship included surviving an impeachment plot and opposition.
Akeredolu’s prolonged health challenges led to his death on December 27, 2023, in Germany.
Before his demise, Akeredolu transmitted power to Aiyedatiwa on December 13, 2023, during his medical trip overseas.
While taking his oath of office, Aiyedatiwa promised to always put the interest of the state above his personal interests.
He vowed that his actions in office would be guided by the provisions of the Nigerian constitution and promised to work in the best interest of the people of Ondo.
Aiyedatiwa took the oath of allegiance at 5:15 pm, while he took the oath of office at 5:17 pm. And at about 5:19 pm, he signed the Oath Register.
