In a momentous triumph, the Super Falcons of Nigeria have clinched qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games following their decisive victory over South Africa.

VerseSports reports that Nigeria secured their Olympic berth by defeating South Africa 1-0 on aggregate in the women’s football qualifiers.

Rasheedat Ajibade proved instrumental in Nigeria’s qualification, scoring a crucial goal from the penalty spot during the first leg of the qualifiers held in Abuja. This solitary goal propelled the Super Falcons to claim one of Africa’s coveted tickets for the women’s football event at the Paris Olympics.

Despite a goalless draw in the second leg tie in South Africa, Nigeria’s earlier victory ensured their passage to the prestigious sporting event.

This achievement marks the Super Falcons’ return to the Olympic stage after a 16-year absence, showcasing the team’s resilience and determination to compete at the highest level of international football.

The encounter against South Africa holds historical significance, with both teams engaging in spirited contests over the years. Notably, Nigeria’s victory in this encounter adds to their dominance in previous encounters, with the Super Falcons emerging victorious in 15 out of 24 meetings, while South Africa secured victory on four occasions, with five matches ending in draws.
