Tribunal Declared Sen. Gabriel Suswam of the PDP Winner of Benue North East Senatorial Zone

The Benue Election Petition Tribunal in Markurd on Friday has ordered Emmanuel Udende of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to vacate the position as Senator of Benue North East Senatorial District and declared Gabriel Suswan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the February 25 election.

Recall that Senator Udende was declared winner of the February 25, 2023, National Assembly election after polling a total of 135,573 votes to defeat Senator Gabriel Suswam of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who garnered 112,231 votes.

But Friday’s ruling by the tribunal declared Suswan, a former governor of the state winner of the election.

In a swift reaction, counsel to sacked APC senator, Innocent Daagba says they are not satisfied with the decision and will advise his client, Emmanuel Udende to appeal.
