Peter Obi has joined TikTok, urging Nigerians to support his vision for a new Nigeria.
His move follows ex-Governor El-Rufai, who recently joined after defecting from the APC to the SDP.
The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has officially joined TikTok, expanding his social media presence to engage with Nigerians, particularly the youth.
VerseNews reports that Obi announced his arrival on the platform via his handle @mr.peter.obi on Tuesday, sharing a short video where he said, “This is my official and only TikTok page. Kindly join me towards building a new Nigeria that is possible.”
As of the time of this report, Obi had already gained over 4,500 followers, with engagement steadily increasing. His presence on the platform aligns with his grassroots approach to connecting with young Nigerians, a demographic that played a crucial role in his 2023 presidential campaign.

His move comes shortly after former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, also joined TikTok following his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). El-Rufai’s TikTok page gained over 200,000 followers within 24 hours, as he used the platform to criticize the APC and discuss his new political alignment.
With more politicians turning to TikTok to reach younger audiences, the platform is becoming an increasingly influential space for political discourse and engagement in Nigeria.
