Digital creator Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, popularly known as Jarvis, has debunked speculation that she shaved her head as part of a traditional marital rite ahead of her wedding to fellow TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller.

The social media personality explained that the decision was strictly related to her bridal hairstyle, revealing that her hairstylist recommended the haircut to ensure that her wig and hair extensions would fit properly.

Speculation had circulated online that Jarvis’ haircut was connected to a cultural or traditional marriage requirement.

Addressing the claim in a trending video on social media on Monday, Jarvis clarified that she shaved her hair to achieve the desired finish for her wedding hairstyle.

“I shaved my hair because I wanted my hair installation to be perfect,” she said.

According to the digital creator, her natural hairline had previously made it difficult for her hairstylist to achieve the desired look when installing frontal wigs.

She explained that the texture of her natural hair was another reason behind the decision.

“That is what my hairstylist recommended because I have stubborn hair,” Jarvis said.

Jarvis urged members of the public to stop attributing unverified cultural practices to her wedding, stressing that the haircut had nothing to do with any traditional marital requirement.

Her clarification comes as she and Peller conclude their highly publicised wedding celebrations with their white wedding.

The couple held their white wedding on Saturday, with the ceremony streamed live on Twitch and YouTube for fans who could not attend physically.

Ahead of the ceremony, Peller announced that the guest list would be significantly reduced, with only about 80 to 100 guests expected to attend.

The decision followed complaints over the large turnout at their traditional wedding held on August 1. Peller had alleged that some people obtained the couple’s aso-ebi primarily to gain access to the event and create content rather than celebrate with them.

Peller also announced that bloggers would not be allowed into the white wedding, describing the ceremony as a more private gathering for close family members, friends and selected industry colleagues.

Despite the controversies surrounding their traditional wedding, Peller said the ceremony was ultimately successful.

The couple’s journey to marriage has attracted significant attention from their large social media following.

Peller proposed to Jarvis in Ghana in June, after which the couple travelled to Benin City, Edo State, where he paid her bride price and completed the traditional rites with her family.

They subsequently conducted their court wedding in Lagos on July 29 before holding their traditional wedding in Lekki, Lagos, on August 1.

The traditional ceremony attracted celebrities, musicians and social media influencers and generated several viral moments online.

The couple also received high-value gifts from well-wishers, including a reported N400m mansion in Abuja, cash gifts and a plot of land.

The celebrations were not without controversy, as some Nigerians questioned the couple’s age and readiness for marriage. However, Peller and Jarvis dismissed the concerns and proceeded with their wedding plans.

Following the crowd-related issues at the traditional ceremony, the couple opted for a smaller and more intimate white wedding while allowing fans who could not attend to watch the ceremony online.
