Nasir El-Rufai reportedly plans legal challenges against President Tinubu, aiming to refute security allegations and dispel rumors of contesting Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Tensions escalate amidst claims of political maneuvering and destabilization strategies, setting the stage for a potential legal showdown.

Former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is reportedly gearing up for legal confrontations with President Bola Tinubu, aiming to clear his name of security allegations and dispel rumors of challenging Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

According to reports from Vanguard newspaper, Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna state, is bracing for a legal showdown with President Bola Tinubu on two fronts.

Sources close to El-Rufai revealed that the former governor is determined to refute allegations labeling him as a security risk, which allegedly obstructed his appointment to a ministerial position.

Additionally, El-Rufai aims to counter rumors suggesting his intention to contest against Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The friction between El-Rufai and the Tinubu administration reportedly stems from El-Rufai’s failure to obtain security clearance for a ministerial role, despite his pivotal role in rallying northern governors to support Tinubu’s candidacy during the 2023 elections.

Allies of El-Rufai have expressed his resolve to challenge these allegations in court, asserting that he refuses to let the tarnishing of his reputation persist unchallenged.

Addressing the matter, a confidant of El-Rufai stated, “You think Mallam will allow this tag to abide on him? I can assure you that he is going to clear his name in court.”

Moreover, concerns have been raised by the Middle-Belt Patriotic Congress (MBPC) regarding El-Rufai’s alleged attempts to solicit financial support from influential northern figures to potentially undermine Tinubu’s administration.

The group alleges that El-Rufai is orchestrating a strategy to destabilize Tinubu’s government, further escalating tensions within the political landscape.

Despite the gravity of these allegations and counter-allegations, official statements from both El-Rufai and the Tinubu camp are yet to be released.
