BREAKING: SDP Disowns El-Rufa, Issues Strong Warning
The SDP also issued a stern warning against further impersonation, declaring a vote of no confidence in El-Rufai and calling for the suspension of Dr. Umar Ardo.

The SDP also issued a stern warning against further impersonation, declaring a vote of no confidence in El-Rufai and calling for the suspension of Dr. Umar Ardo.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially disowned former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, stating that he is “neither a member of the party nor authorised to speak for it or represent it.”
This was made known by the SDP Zonal Secretary for the North-West Zone, Inuwa Idris, during a press briefing held in Kaduna on Friday.
Idris said: “It has come to our attention that Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i has taken it upon himself to appear in various fora, including policy dialogues, stakeholder engagements, and even private strategy meetings purporting to speak on behalf of the Social Democratic Party.
Let this be made unequivocally clear to all: Malam El-Rufa’i is not authorised, mandated, or recognised by the SDP in any capacity to represent its interests, articulate its positions, or speak on its behalf.”

He further stressed that El-Rufai’s actions were taken without the “knowledge, consent, or approval of the party’s national leadership—including our dynamic acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar, among others.”
Idris emphasized that El-Rufai does not appear in the party’s membership records, has not participated in any of its activities, and has never been given any form of mandate.
Reaffirming the party’s leadership structure, Idris expressed confidence in Dr. Sadiq Umar (Acting National Chairman), Chief Olu Agunloye (National Secretary), and Prince Adewole Adebayo (2023 Presidential Candidate).

The party warned the public and stakeholders to ignore any statements issued by El-Rufai under the SDP banner and reiterated the importance of proper communication through authorised channels.

Idris also made additional declarations:
“We pass a vote of no confidence on Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’i.
We call for the immediate suspension of Dr Umar Ardo from SDP, as he is now a known promoter of a new political party, the ADC. Resorting to the use of the SDP Platform is the height of desperation and a crass display of failure in political brinkmanship.
Let this serve as a final warning for them. Desist from your fraudulent activities.
Any further impersonation or we will be compelled to call for a special committee by the powers of NEC to look into these matters with a view of publishing all the misdeeds across all available platforms.”
The SDP says its official representatives for all future engagements will be disclosed upon request, as part of its commitment to transparency and proper delegation.
