Guinness World Records Breaks Silence as Hilda Baci Attempts Record for Largest Pot of Nigerian Jollof Rice

Guinness World Records has sent a message of support to Hilda Baci as she attempts to set a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian jollof rice.
Guinness World Records has officially reacted to Hilda Baci’s latest cooking marathon, where the celebrity chef is attempting to set a new record for the world’s largest serving of Nigerian jollof rice.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the global record body wrote: “What’s cookin’? Best of luck to @hildabacicooks who’s attempting a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice today 🍲.”

The message has since gone viral, with thousands of Nigerians cheering Baci on as she embarks on yet another historic feat.
Baci, who gained international recognition in May 2023 after completing a 100-hour cooking marathon that earned her a Guinness World Record, is back in the spotlight at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Her attempt — powered by seasoning brand Gino — involves cooking with 250 bags of basmati rice in a custom-made six-metre-wide pot. The free event has already attracted over 20,000 people, far beyond the 6,000 originally expected at the venue.

Ahead of the cookout, Baci assured fans of the hygiene of the massive pot being used. In a video posted on Instagram, she was seen inside the pot scrubbing its interior.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” she wrote, before joking, “I know you’re probably about to pop your eyeballs out. Why is she inside the pot? The reason I’m inside the pot at this moment is because I need to wash the pot.”
She promised that the pot would be fully sanitised before use and pledged to serve “the most amazing, hygienic food you’ve ever eaten.”
With Guinness World Records now publicly acknowledging her effort, excitement continues to mount as Nigerians await confirmation of another milestone in the country’s culinary history.
