  • Esther Okoronkwo has failed to make the final cut as CAF released its top three nominees for the 2025 Women’s Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year awards, with Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie securing their places among Africa’s elite.

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie have been confirmed among the final three nominees for the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year awards respectively.

According to CAF via its official X page, Ajibade will compete for the Women’s Player of the Year crown alongside Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy.

Ajibade enjoyed a standout year, leading Nigeria to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title in Morocco. Her exceptional performances earned her both the Player of the Tournament and a place in the Team of the Tournament, cementing her status as a frontrunner for Africa’s top individual honour.

Nnadozie is also on the brink of history as she aims for a third straight Goalkeeper of the Year award. The Brighton shot-stopper lifted the Coupe de France Féminine earlier in the year and delivered commanding displays during the Super Falcons’ WAFCON triumph. She will battle Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini for the title.
