Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja as the court prepares to deliver judgment in his long-running terrorism trial.

Security around the court premises was tightened early this morning as officers took positions and screened everyone entering the complex.

Court officials confirmed that today’s sitting will determine the next major step in the case, a matter that has dragged for years and drawn nationwide attention.

The proceeding is expected to be broadcast live on Channels TV, TVC and AIT, as earlier approved by the court.

Kanu appeared in court dressed in his usual outfit and acknowledged brief greetings from his legal team.

Supporters had gathered outside the court gates, though they were kept at a distance by security personnel.

DON’T MISS: BREAKING: Court to Deliver Judgment in Nnamdi Kanu’s Case on Live Broadcast

The judge, Justice James Omotosho, had fixed today for judgment after Kanu declined to open his defence, insisting that it would be unlawful to proceed since “there is no charge against him.”

His lawyers have maintained that the federal government has not presented a valid case, while prosecutors argue that the charges already before the court are sufficient.

Proceedings began shortly after Kanu was ushered into the courtroom, with journalists allowed limited access for coverage.

More updates are expected as the judgment is delivered.
