How a Missed Church Service Led to the Discovery of Ex-Ogun Broadcaster’s Murder

A former staff member of Ogun State Television, Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” and her security guard have been killed by gunmen at her residence in Agodo community along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Expressway.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday, throwing residents and media colleagues into mourning.
According to an anonymous source, the horrifying discovery was made by church members who became worried after Mrs Oyesiku failed to attend service.
“What we heard was that it was some church members who actually discovered this horrendous incident,” the source said.
The source explained that the church members decided to visit her residence after noticing her absence.
“They had come around to check on Mrs Oyesiku when they did not see her in the church. On getting to her residence, they found out that the security officer had been killed, and they later also saw that the assailants had also killed Mrs Oyesiku. That was how they raised the alarm in the community,” the source added.
The bodies of the deceased have reportedly been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.
Details surrounding the attack remain unclear, and the motive behind the killings has yet to be established.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the command was aware of the development and would issue an official statement on the matter.
The late Oyesiku was a respected figure in media circles, having served with the state-owned television station before her retirement.
News of her death has sparked grief among colleagues, friends and residents of Ogun State, with many describing the incident as a shocking and painful loss.
