A serving officer of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Abdussalam Ude, has been killed after gunmen attacked his residence in the Kurudu area of Abuja.

According to security sources, the attack occurred on Monday evening shortly after the senior military officer returned home from work.

The assailants were reportedly attempting to abduct either the officer or members of his household when the attack turned violent.

During the incident, Colonel Ude was shot dead, while his wife, driver, and security guard sustained gunshot wounds.

The injured victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact circumstances surrounding the attack, and the motive behind the killing remains unclear.

Security agencies, working alongside military authorities, have launched an investigation and intensified efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Colonel Ude was an indigene of Enugu State and served in the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps.

During his military career, he held several key intelligence and counter-terrorism positions and participated in operations against insurgents in Nigeria’s North-East region.

He also undertook international assignments in the Republic of Chad and France, where he contributed to intelligence and security cooperation initiatives involving the Nigerian military and foreign partners.

Colleagues reportedly described him as a dedicated, disciplined, and highly professional officer who made significant contributions to intelligence and counter-terrorism operations.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Army had not issued an official statement regarding the incident, while investigations by security agencies remain ongoing.
