Delta Commissioner, Three Others Arrested Over Deputy Director’s Death

• Delta Commissioner, four other suspects are now in custody, while police have declared two others wanted as investigations into the ministry official’s death continue.

The investigation into the death of Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, a Deputy Director in the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education, has led to the arrest of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three other suspects.

Delta State Police Command spokesman, Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Monday, bringing the total number of people in custody over the case to five.

Police had yet to disclose the identities of the three suspects arrested alongside the commissioner at the time of filing this report.

“The Delta State Police Command, in continuation of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, Deputy Director in the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education, has taken into custody the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, alongside three other suspects in connection with the case.

“This brings the number of persons currently in Police custody in connection with the investigation to five,” the statement said.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the command also declared two people wanted for questioning.

They were identified as Mrs Clementine Ufuoma, Director of Basic and Secondary Education, and Clement Apia, the commissioner’s driver.

The arrests form part of the police investigation into the circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death.
