Osimhen Missing as Chelle Names Super Eagles Squad for Tanzania Clashes — Full List

• Victor Osimhen is absent from the Super Eagles squad as Eric Chelle selects 24 players for Nigeria’s 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Tanzania.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has announced a 24-man squad for Nigeria’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Tanzania, with Victor Osimhen among the notable absentees.

The squad, released on Saturday, November 7, also excludes goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and forward Kelechi Iheanacho.

Osimhen is unavailable because of a knee injury, leaving Chelle to approach the two fixtures without the Galatasaray striker. Iheanacho’s omission, meanwhile, comes despite his recent club form.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman are included, alongside Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi and Moses Simon.

Francis Uzoho joins Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo among the three goalkeepers selected.

Nigeria will host Tanzania at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13, before travelling to Zanzibar for the return match on Tuesday, November 17.

The Super Eagles sit second in Group L ahead of the fixtures.

Chelle’s attacking options include Lookman, Simon, Akor Adams, Taiwo Awoniyi, Tolu Arokodare and Moses Usor. With Osimhen unavailable, the coach must choose a different player to lead the attack against Tanzania.
