The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) reported a minor fire outbreak at the cooling tower of Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (WRPC) in Warri, Delta State.
VerseNews reports that this was confirmed in a statement posted on its X handle (formerly Twitter) and signed by the NNPCL Management Friday night, the company said the fire outbreak, which occurred at about 3pm on Friday afternoon.
According to the statement, the fire, caused by ongoing welding activity, was extinguished after about 30 minutes and will not affect the refinery’s rehabilitation project and delivery schedule.
NNPC Limited emphasized its commitment to safety standards in its operations.
