Google announced that it will delete inactive Gmail accounts and associated data starting December 1, VerseNews reports.
According to Google, “An inactive Google Account is an account that has not been used within a 2-year period,”
“Google reserves the right to delete an inactive Google Account and its activity and data if you are inactive across Google for at least two years.”
Google considers various activities, such as signing in, reading or sending emails, using Google Drive, watching YouTube videos, Sharing a photo, downloading an app, using Google search, using Sign in with Google to sign in to a third-party app or service and more, as indicators of user activity.
If an account is deemed inactive, Google may delete its content, including Google Photos, Google Calendar events, Google Docs, and emails.
Google will send notifications to the account and a recovery email before deletion.
This policy applies to personal accounts, not those associated with organizations.
