The Sierra Leonean government has confirmed the arrest of individuals attempting to break into the country’s military armory at Wilberforce barracks.
VerseNews reports that the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah in a statement signed and released on Sunday announced a nationwide curfew to facilitate the security forces’ efforts in apprehending suspects.
The government assured the public of its control over the situation.

The incident raises concerns amid recent military breaches and coups in West African countries like Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Gabon.
“PUBLIC NOTICE: Security Update and Nationwide Curfew Announcement; In the early hours of Sunday November 26th 2023, some unidentified individuals attempted to break into the military armory at Wilberforce barracks. They have all been rebuffed.
“To enable the security forces to continue the process of apprehending the suspects, a nationwide curfew is declared with immediate effect across the country. We strongly advise citizens to stay indoors,” part of the statement read.
