MTN subscribers can dial *671*0# from their registered phone numbers to check whether they were selected for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 monthly relief payment. Those selected can use the same code to accept the support through MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB).

The payment is part of the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), which provides cash assistance to vulnerable Nigerian households. The government selects beneficiaries from verified records and contacts them in batches through approved payment providers. The programme is free, and there is no application form to fill out.

How MTN users can check and receive the ₦50,000

  1. Check your status. Dial *671*0# from your registered MTN number and follow the prompts to check whether you were selected.
  2. Give consent if selected. Follow the prompts in the official USSD menu to accept the payment. The government requires your consent before the funds are credited.
  3. Set up a MoMo wallet if needed. Dial *671# or download the official MoMo PSB NG app from your phone’s app store. Wallet setup is separate from selection for the relief programme.
  4. Access the money after it is credited. Use the MoMo app or *671*0# to transfer the funds to a bank account, or visit an authorised MoMo agent.

If your status shows “NOT SELECTED”, you have not been selected in the current batch. The government is contacting beneficiaries in phases, and selection in a later batch is not guaranteed.

MTN warns against fake payment messages

MTN Nigeria Support warned subscribers to ignore a circulating message telling people who had yet to receive the money or whose status showed “NOT ELIGIBLE” to send “YES” to an unofficial code in exchange for payment within 24 hours.
