VerseNews reports that the examination, conducted in the United States, marks a pivotal moment in the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the artist’s passing.

Lagos State counsel, Oluwaseun Akinde, shared insights during a session at the coroner’s court in the Ikorodu area of the state in November 2023.

He revealed that while the autopsy focusing on the external body of the deceased had been completed, the toxicology test, crucial for understanding internal factors, was still pending.

Recently, an unnamed official from the state government disclosed to our correspondent the latest development.

“The toxicology test is ready and given to the police. We projected 10 weeks from the outset but it came in before then. It was received by the DNA and Forensic Centre last week and has been sent to the police,” the source said.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the official revealed that the test results had been forwarded to the state DNA and Forensic Centre before being transmitted to the police. The official explained that the toxicology report was promptly delivered to the authorities, expediting the investigative process.

In an exclusive interview, a source within the Lagos State Police Command, also preferring anonymity, confirmed the receipt of the test results. However, due to the technical nature of the report, it was promptly referred to the pathologist who conducted the autopsy for analysis and interpretation.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for further comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. However, sources indicate that authorities are diligently scrutinizing the findings to glean insights into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely demise.

Director Richard Somiari of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, who testified during a coroner’s inquest, expressed confidence in the forensic process. He assured the public of stringent security measures in place to safeguard the integrity of the results and underscored the importance of meticulous analysis to ascertain the cause of Mohbad’s death definitively.

Mohbad, a rising star in the music industry, passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, sparking widespread speculation and debates on social media. A former signee of Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad’s departure from the label in February 2022 added further intrigue to the circumstances surrounding his demise.

In response to the tragedy, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-member special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to delve into the details of the artist’s untimely passing. The investigation led to the arrest of prominent figures, including Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry.

The exhumation of Mohbad’s body for autopsy on September 21, 2023, marked a crucial step in the investigative process, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding his tragic death. As the forensic analysis unfolds, authorities remain committed to unraveling the truth behind Mohbad’s untimely demise, providing closure to his family, friends, and fans alike.
