Nigerian singer-songwriter Brymo has reignited his long-running feud with Burna Boy, declaring that the Grammy-winning artiste’s name will never appear in his music because he does not consider him important or relevant.

Speaking during an interview on the NotJustOkay podcast, Brymo reflected on Burna Boy’s 2023 freestyle in which the singer rapped, “Hustle so you no go fall off like Brymo.”

Brymo said he was surprised Burna Boy made the remark, insisting he should not have been significant enough to be mentioned.

“His name will never appear in my songs. I told him that before, and I’m saying it again,” Brymo said.

The singer also claimed he does not regard Burna Boy as being on the same artistic level, despite his international success.

Brymo further alleged that Burna Boy’s Grammy Award was “bought,” claiming he had previously been asked to pay $10,000 to secure a BET Award—a claim for which he provided no evidence.

He also questioned Burna Boy’s songwriting, singing and performance abilities, while accusing the Afrobeats star of offending him and vowing to “take full revenge.”

How the Feud Started

The rift between the two artistes dates back to 2023, when Brymo accused Burna Boy of sampling two songs—”City Boy” and “I Told Them”—from his unreleased project titled Macabre.

Brymo also alleged that Burna Boy sent thugs to attack him and claimed that fellow music stars Davido and 2Baba harboured resentment towards him.

Burna Boy later responded during a rehearsal freestyle, rapping:

“Hustle make you no go fall off like Brymo.”

Since then, both artistes have continued exchanging public jabs, with Burna Boy previously mocking Brymo for making what he described as “Yoruba proverb music.”

Brymo has also criticised Burna Boy and other Afrobeats heavyweights, urging them to stop competing to be the biggest pop stars and instead focus on creating something new.

Brymo’s latest comments suggest the bitter feud between the two musicians is far from over.
