  • Afro-Juju maestro Shina Peters has shocked fans with revelations that he became a father at 14, owned a car at 13, and built a house at 16 — sharing his inspiring journey and industry frustrations in an unfiltered interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast.

Nigerian Afro-Juju legend Shina Peters has stunned fans with a deeply personal revelation about his early life, saying he became a father at just 14 years old and achieved remarkable milestones before turning 20.

In a teaser clip for the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast — set to air by 6 p.m. on Monday — the 67-year-old music icon opened up about his humble beginnings, creative struggles, and the price of fame.

“I started my career at the age of 10. I had my first child at 14. I bought my first car at 13. I built my first house at 16,” Peters revealed in the viral preview.

Born Oluwashina Akanbi Peters, the Ace crooner promised a no-holds-barred conversation, vowing to speak “bluntly” about how the industry has changed since his rise to fame in the 1980s.

“This interview will be blunt and unfiltered because they have bastardised what people like us suffered for — what we cried to God to change. By His grace, He did, but now they’ve changed it back. I won’t be part of that,” he said.

The music legend also spoke about the challenges of producing new music in today’s environment, lamenting the lack of inspiration and the decline in creative atmosphere.

“Sixty-five percent of my fans are Igbos, not Yorubas. My fans want new music, but I can’t just go to the studio; the atmosphere isn’t right for me. I don’t know what to sing,” he admitted.

Before forming Sir Shina Peters & His International Stars, Peters performed with Juju icons Ebenezer Obey and Prince Adekunle. His 1989 album Ace (Afro-Juju Series 1) achieved double platinum status, revolutionizing Juju music by fusing it with Afrobeat rhythms.

The legendary singer is also the father of celebrated Nigerian music video director Clarence Peters.
