‘I Pray God Tells Me When to Quit Music, I Don’t Want to Be Like Ronaldo’ – Davido (Video)

• Davido has revealed that his biggest fear is not knowing when to retire from music, saying Cristiano Ronaldo’s experience after the World Cup reminded him how quickly public opinion can change despite years of success.

Nigerian music star Davido has opened up about his biggest career fear, saying he constantly prays for God to reveal the right time to retire from music so he does not damage the legacy he has built.

Speaking during a recent interview, the award-winning singer reflected on the pressures that come with fame, using football legend Cristiano Ronaldo as an example.

According to Davido, watching the criticism Ronaldo received despite his remarkable achievements made him realize how quickly public opinion can change.

“My biggest fear is not knowing when to quit music. Look at my good friend Ronaldo. After everything he’s done for football, they still laughed at him during and after the World Cup. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up.”

Davido said he wishes there was a special therapy centre for people who were once extremely successful and famous, describing the transition from being at the top to losing public admiration as emotionally difficult.

“If there was one thing I could build, I would build a centre for people that have been popular and very successful before… a place where they can get therapy. It’s crazy being on top of the world and the next moment you’re not.”

He explained that even after winning major trophies and breaking records, public figures are still heavily criticised.

“You win all these awards, you win the Champions League, you win the World Cup, and people still don’t feel like it’s enough. Look at Ronaldo… They were abusing him so much after everything he has done.”

The singer admitted that he worries about making one wrong decision that could overshadow years of hard work.

“That’s my greatest fear. I work too hard for me to come and spoil it with something. So, I always ask God, ‘God, just tell me the right time to…’ That’s the only thing I’m scared of.”

Davido’s comments have sparked conversations on social media about the pressures of fame, legacy and the mental health challenges faced by celebrities after reaching the peak of their careers.
