One of the ministerial nominees being screened on Wednesday, Balarabe Lawal, claimed that his sudden collapse during the Senate exercise was caused by exhaustion and that he is “alright now.”

VerseNews reports that Lawal, a Kaduna State native, was shortlisted alongside Jamila Ibrahim of Kwara and Ayodele Olawande of Ondo to join the 45 ministers who had already been endorsed by the Red Chamber in August.

The screening came after President Bola Tinubu requested the Senate’s confirmation of the nominees in a letter that was read aloud on the Senate floor on Tuesday.

However, as the screening continued, events took a dramatic turn when Lawal, the second person to be called up after Ibrahim, collapsed just after finishing his introduction, prompting several people in attendance to rush to his aid.
