The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says there was total compliance with the sit-at-home directive observed across Biafraland on Monday, as activities were largely shut down in many parts of the South-East.

In a press briefing released on Monday, the group said the widespread observance of the sit-at-home reflected strong unity and solidarity with its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. According to IPOB, communities including Omambala, Onitsha and several other areas across the region recorded a near-complete shutdown of commercial and social activities.

IPOB described the action as peaceful, noting that residents voluntarily stayed indoors as a sign of protest against Kanu’s continued detention. The group said the development demonstrated the resolve of its supporters and the depth of support for its leader, despite what it described as intimidation and pressure.

The group added that the sit-at-home sent a clear message to authorities and the international community that the demand for the release of Nnamdi Kanu remains strong across the South-East.
