Manchester United Agree Deal From Barcelona for Marcus Rashford

Barcelona are on the verge of completing a sensational move for Marcus Rashford, with reports claiming that the Spanish champions have reached an agreement with Manchester United for a season-long loan with an option to buy.

According to The Athletic, the two clubs have finalised terms through intermediaries, with negotiations now in their final stages. Rashford, who spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, has been pushing for a move to Camp Nou this summer, and is set to get his wish.

The 27-year-old forward has already held indirect talks with Barcelona via his brother and agent, who travelled to Catalonia in May to discuss a potential transfer. Although Barcelona initially prioritised a deal for Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams — who has since signed a new contract — and explored a move for Liverpool’s Luis Díaz, financial constraints and failed bids have turned the club’s attention back to Rashford.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is believed to be a strong supporter of the deal. Speaking in May, Flick said:

“I don’t want to speak about players who are not in my team, but of course Luis Díaz and Marcus Rashford are fantastic players. I like them and we’ll see what happens.”

Rashford has been training individually in Marbella over the summer and did not report for Manchester United’s pre-season training last week, further fuelling speculation over his exit.

If completed, Rashford would become Barcelona’s second signing of the summer after they triggered the €25 million (£21.3m) release clause of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Barcelona return to action on August 16 as they begin their La Liga title defence away to Mallorca. Rashford’s arrival could inject pace, creativity, and experience into Flick’s new-look frontline as the Catalan giants look to rebuild after a challenging campaign.
