Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed confidence that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, will secure a second term in office, despite backing President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the former Abia State governor said Governor Otti remains well-positioned to win re-election, describing him as a close associate.

“Alex Otti will win the governorship election. He is my brother and my banker. Whatever I want to tell him, I tell him privately,” Kalu said.

Despite his endorsement of Otti’s re-election bid, Kalu maintained that President Bola Tinubu would emerge victorious in the presidential election, including in Abia State.

“Tinubu will win in Abia,” he declared.

Kalu argued that President Tinubu remains the favourite ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting the opposition is too divided to mount a serious challenge.

“I told you here before that President Tinubu has no competition, and I am still repeating it, he has no competition.”

According to the senator, although Nigerians are still experiencing economic hardship, the administration has recorded progress in stabilising the economy and improving security.

He admitted that the government had not effectively communicated many of its achievements to Nigerians.

“It is just that we were very unlucky that we did not market what this government has done very well. President Tinubu himself was not interested in marketing what he has delivered.”

Kalu also rated Tinubu’s performance after three years in office at 65 per cent, expressing confidence that the score would improve as the administration’s reforms continue to take effect.

He further dismissed suggestions that opposition figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi pose a significant threat to Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“All these people are not threats. If they had been together, there would be a problem.”

While acknowledging that a united opposition would make the contest more competitive, Kalu insisted President Tinubu remains firmly on course for victory in 2027.
