The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained a 20-year-old social media influencer, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a viral video showing him driving recklessly on a Lagos road and crashing his vehicle during a live stream.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, was broadcast in real time on social media and quickly sparked outrage and concern among the public. Police authorities said the action endangered not only the suspect but also other road users.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, described Peller’s conduct as a “dangerous and unlawful act.” She said the behaviour, as captured in the viral footage, posed grave risks to public safety and warranted immediate police intervention.

The influencer is currently in custody, while detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and the video shared online.
