Selected but Not Paid? What to Check About Your NERSI Payment
Still waiting for your NERSI payment after receiving a selection message? Check your acceptance status, registered SIM and wallet before reporting the delay.

Receiving a selection message for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention does not, by itself, confirm that the money has reached your wallet.
If your NERSI payment has not appeared, the next step is to establish whether you have accepted the support, received a transaction confirmation or encountered a technical error.
1. Confirm that you accepted the payment
The ministry says beneficiaries must consent before payment. Follow your provider’s official acceptance instructions.
If you accidentally selected “No,” the ministry advises dialling the code again and choosing “Yes.” Receiving the initial notification alone does not complete this process.
2. Use the SIM that received the notification
Moniepoint instructs beneficiaries to dial from the phone number that received the selection SMS. Using another number can cause authorisation to fail.
For Moniepoint beneficiaries, the published code is *5573*27#. Follow the prompts to accept the transfer and watch for confirmation.
Its guidance says the wallet may take a few hours to receive the ₦50,000 after the confirmation SMS. This is Moniepoint’s stated processing guidance, rather than a guaranteed deadline for every provider.
3. Check your wallet balance
NERSI support goes into a mobile wallet. Check that wallet through your provider’s official service instead of relying only on alerts from a separate bank account.
Also distinguish between a message announcing selection and one confirming a credit.
4. Check your eligibility status
The ministry says beneficiaries are contacted in batches. Someone else receiving payment does not establish that yours is overdue.
However, a “currently not selected” response does not confirm a pending payment or guarantee selection later.
5. Report an unresolved delay
For wallet or payment problems, contact your provider. Programme questions can go to the NERSI helpline: 0700-022-2222.
Nobody can legitimately charge you to speed up payment. Never disclose your PIN, password or OTP to someone offering assistance.
Before contacting support, prepare a short account of what happened: when the selection SMS arrived, when you accepted, the exact error displayed and whether your balance changed. Request a complaint reference so you can follow up without starting again.
