Tragedy As Motor Boy Dies In Lagos Road Accident, Driver Escapes

A young motor boy for a truck was confirmed dead on Saturday after the truck was involved in an accident along Barracks Bus Stop opposite, Gbagada, Lagos State.
VerseNews reports that the incident was said to have taken place opposite the Total filling station, ascending Anthony Oke Bridge in the area.
According to an eyewitnesses the driver of the container-laden truck with Registration No: T20345LA lost control of its brake and fell down a few metres while ascending the bridge.
Some operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who rushed to the scene of the accident rescued the driver of the vehicle and found his motor boy dead.
LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
He said, “Immediately the accident happened, LASTMA personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the driver unconsciously, while his motor boy was found dead.”
It was gathered that police operatives from the Ilupeju Police Station provided security backup as the rescued driver was immediately rushed to the Gbagada General Hospital by available officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit.
Meanwhile, the Acting General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bakare Oki, who visited the accident scene sympathised with the dead boy’s family.
He also warned motorists to ensure the good condition of their vehicles’ brake systems before embarking on any journey within and beyond the state.
