‘Unruly’ Comfort Emmanson Jailed in 24 Hours for Airline Assault While ‘KWAM 1’ Walks Free After Airport Obstruction

“COMFORT Emmanson,” the passenger who allegedly assaulted airline officials on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, has been arraigned and remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility

Her swift prosecution comes just days after a separate high-profile airport obstruction involving Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, widely known as “KWAM 1,” in which no charges have been filed.

Ayinde, believed to have strong ties to the Nigerian government, was caught in viral videos blocking a ValueJet aircraft from taxiing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after he was denied boarding.

Holding a flask suspected to contain alcohol, he allegedly refused security checks and repeatedly attempted to stop the aircraft from taking off—narrowly avoiding serious injury when the pilot taxied away without clearance.

Following the uproar, “KWAM 1” claimed airport authorities apologised and flew him in a private jet. But the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo blacklisted him from flying for six months, with Keyamo calling the actions of both the musician and the pilot “an act of insanity.” The pilot and co-pilot’s licences were also withdrawn.

Despite widespread condemnation, the Fuji star has yet to be arrested or charged—unlike Emmanson, who was arraigned within 24 hours of her incident.

Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Aviation Minister, confirmed in a post on X that Emmanson was “now cooling off in Kirikiri” after being charged, warning that enforcement action against unruly passengers would become more frequent.

Meanwhile, Nigerians are demanding equal justice, questioning why the swift legal action applied to Emmanson has not been extended to “KWAM 1.”
