The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Danjuma Aboki, led a team comprising police officers, local hunters, vigilantes, and journalists to a suspected kidnapper’s hideout in a forest between Avu and Ihiagwa.
VerseNews reports that during the operation on January 29, 2024, five suspected kidnappers, identified as Muazu Awuta, 30 ‘m’ yrs, Abdullahi Abubakar, ‘m’ 32yrs, Ozeru Sabo ‘m’ 25yrs, Saddam Suleiman, ‘m’ 27yrs, Bashir Yahaya, ‘m’, 28yrs all of Jau LGA of Jigawa State were arrested.
The police discovered two decomposing bodies suspected to be kidnapped victims, along with items such as phones, wristwatches, shoes, and slippers in the forest.
The commissioner stated that the suspects are undergoing investigation, and DNA tests will be conducted to confirm the identity of the deceased.
The police continue to intensify efforts to eliminate criminal activities in the state, urging the public to provide information that could aid in apprehending criminals.
