Vice President Shettima of Nigeria was unable to attend the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas.

This was due to technical issues with his aircraft. As a result, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, represented President Bola Tinubu instead.

Vice President Kashim Shettima of Nigeria was scheduled to fly to Dallas, United States, on Sunday night to attend the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit, but encountered an unexpected hurdle.

VerseNews reports that technical problems with his aircraft prevented him from making the trip. This summit, organized by the Corporate Council on Africa, was meant to see Shettima representing President Bola Tinubu.

Originally, Shettima’s participation had been confirmed through a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha. Unfortunately, a subsequent announcement from the presidency on Monday revealed the VP’s inability to travel due to these technical issues with his aircraft.

With Vice President Shettima unable to attend, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, will take his place at the summit. Meanwhile, Vice President Shettima will continue to fulfill his other national responsibilities.

The statement reads: “In light of a technical issue with his aircraft, Vice President Shettima is unable to attend the US-Africa Summit 2024. In his absence, Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar will be representing President Bola Tinubu at the event.

“Due to a technical issue with his aircraft, Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was initially set to accompany the President on the trip, had to alter his plans and take an alternative route based on the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet.
