Arewa leader Dr. Bashir Lamido insists Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is certain, citing strong backing from political heavyweights like Yari, Kalu, Ganduje, and Ibori.

He doubts the opposition can unite, making Tinubu’s defeat impossible.

Pioneer leader of Arewa Summit International, Dr. Bashir Lamido, has dismissed any possibility of President Bola Tinubu losing his re-election bid in 2027, citing the strong political alliances backing him.

“The quality of political heavyweights in support of the president’s re-election would make it practically impossible for Tinubu to lose,” he stated.

VerseNews reports that Lamido identified key political figures such as Abdul’aziz Yari, Orji Uzor Kalu, Abdullahi Ganduje, and James Ibori as crucial allies whose influence will weaken the opposition and secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He questioned the ability of opposition parties to form a united front before 2027.

“When you talk of the possibility of the coalition wrestling power from the ruling party, I think you should also ask yourself a pertinent question: can they agree together?”

“The major opposition platforms, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), are seriously entangled in intense internal wrangling.”

He also doubted the prospects of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) leading a formidable coalition, pointing to the unresolved issue of who would fly the ticket.

“Who will fly the ticket? Is it Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi? Is it Nasir El-Rufai or Yemi Osinbajo? Is it Rotimi Amaechi or Bukola Saraki?” he asked, adding that these politicians all have presidential ambitions and are unlikely to step down for one another.

Lamido made these remarks while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the Abuja Expo and Ruhe Global Resources International Education Fair on Wednesday.

“But you see, Tinubu is very smart and strategic. At a time people were thinking that Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and Chief James Ibori were going to join the opposition and work together to unseat the president, the coalition is yet to take a stand, meanwhile, the president’s men are already watering the ground,” he said.

“Yari is engaged with heavy empowerment in the North, Kalu is doing the same in the South and even extending to the North, likewise others,” he added.

On Tinubu’s economic performance, Lamido acknowledged the growing hardship but maintained that it is a necessary phase for long-term stability.

“The president’s key reforms are inflicting hardship on ordinary Nigerians, many of whom are already facing harsh living conditions,” he noted.

He, however, argued that while the economic pain is inevitable in the short term, it will lead to a more robust and stable economy in the long run.
